Google Wave Embedding Testing

Filed under: Uncategorized — colombiancoffee @ 6:18 pm

Testing the Embedding of a Google Wave:

var wave =
new WavePanel(‘https://wave.google.com/wave/’);
wave.setUIConfig(‘white’, ‘black’, ‘Arial’, ‘13px’);
wave.loadWave(‘googlewave.com!w+4sNGG_CWC’);
wave.init(document.getElementById(‘wave’));

will it work?

Post #1

Filed under: Uncategorized — colombiancoffee @ 8:12 pm

I keep thinking of what I wanted the first post to be and I get derailed. I was going to do at top 10 G1 apps review, then I got distracted by twitter, boy people spend all day there. Then I got distracted by life. So, to break the writer’s block, here’s post #1.

I’m a 20-something woman. I’ve always been interested in technology, just not studied it or anything. I did take the summer after high school to teach myself to create websites. Of course that was so long ago, the knowledge is about as useful as knowing your ABCs. It’s a building block, but it doesn’t mean you can read. Every year I tell myself I’ll learn again, every year life interrupts. Oh well, so much for that.

Anyhow, post 1 is written and out in the world, maybe now I can write post 2…

Google Notebook

Filed under: Uncategorized — colombiancoffee @ 10:38 pm

I am very sad to announce the Google is ending Notebook. Well, sort of. They will stop developing for Notebook and they will no longer make it available foe new users. However, current users will still be able to use Notebook. This, of course makes me very upset because it is a function I use at least 3 times a week. The Notebook is wonderful to keep scraps of the internet for later use, specially since they integrated Bookmarks. It was like every thought or idea I ever had on the internet was safely stored and categorized in one place just by clicking Note This or the little yellow star. I plan on continuing to use Notebbok for the time being.

Anyhow, Google is directing its users to move to Docs or other stuff. None of their suggestions are even remotely useful. Docs is simply not useful as a Notebook. you can’t exactly copy/paste the web into docs and it would be a hassle to try to keep that organized.

I suggest Zoho Notebook. They have a firefox plug-in and even a handy “Export from Google Notebok” link. Also, they will allow you to sign in with wither your current Google or Yahoo account. I revise my past Post about loving Google’s apps more than Zoho. I think I’m moving over to the Zoho side!

Update:  I will warn they do not yet seem to have a Chrome bookmarklet and judging from these comments, the import function is not yet entirely up to par.

Google vs. Zoho

Filed under: Uncategorized — colombiancoffee @ 3:57 pm

I happen to be a lover of all things Google. I love their Docs, Notebook, Talk, Earth, Android, Bookmarks, etc. However, I have also checked out Zoho and they just seems to offer a much more varied package with more options than Google. Their Notebook looks better even though I haven’t quite used it yet. Their Docs application is far above Google’s it has many more features that Google is simply lacking.

Zoho Planner however, I wasn’t a very big fan of. I tried it, but it just didn’t seem usable to me. Google has Calendar, but it still doesn’t even offer the functionality of Zoho’s Planner (ie: todo lists, etc). On top of which Zoho has a true Business apps suite. Unlike Google, whose Business suite is just their same generic apps bundled and named Google Apps, but not exactly offering any added functions.

Honestly, Zoho wins by far over Google, but what’s a girl in love with Google to do?
